There was a lot of cherry poppin’ for me on this trip to NYC. It was my first time shooting for Thomas Gold, it was my first time shooting at Governors Island, and it was my first time taking the Amtrak.

Let me break out my soapbox for a minute here. My Amtrak trip, that was suppose to take 3:45, ended up taking 8 hours because the engine broke 30 minutes out of side of Boston. They strapped another engine to the broken one and towed everything the whole way. It was only able to go half speed the whole time and Amtrak was just like “LOL SORRY BRO, GOODLUCK”.

Moving on. Thomas Gold is one of the most sociable DJs I have ever worked with, hes just a fun dude on and off stage. Its always refreshing to hear a set from someone who doesn’t default to the top 40/overplayed remixes. Shooting Governors Island was fun, hell, shooting in NYC is fun. The people there are so different from what I usually work with and it keeps me on my toes. Sometimes you might get some friggen kid who tries to tell you how to take a photo, settings and all. Fuck off guy, theres a reason I’m here with my camera and you’re here with your run of the mill looking GF. Despite my unfamiliarity with the personalities of NYC EDM people, I ended up chatting up a lot of people, getting some awesome photos, and wearing myself out before I even made it to the Thomas Gold After Party at Pacha to shoot. Clubs in Boston close at 2 am but much like my night, NYC doesnt stop just because of the morning sun. My Chicago flight to meet up with Sebastian Ingrosso for Lollapalooza was a struggle.
